Gavin Demurger-Jones did. He’s a counsellor in a private practice who, in a previous career, worked in the tech world. Whilst working as a counsellor he found that none of the existing software systems catered specifically to counsellors/psychotherapists and didn’t quite do what was needed. So he designed and built a platform, initially for himself, to keep a therapy practice organised and provide visibility on finances and compliance information.

Yes, it is built using secure web protocols (HTTPS), it uses OAuth protocols to connect to the cloud database and requires all users to sign in. All this means is that Grounded and your client’s data, is secured with the latest technology, which means that you can focus on your client’s process, not the tech process.

Yes, you can. There’s no annual contract, just contact us once you decide to leave and we’ll talk you through the simple process and how long it should take.

No, only you have access to your clients’ data. This is secured via your email log-in, which allows control of your data via phone, tablet or a web browser.

Personal Identifiable Information that is stored in Grounded e.g. Name, Email, Address, and Phone Number is configured to be only visible to the user.

The database is secured via double authentication and is strictly limited. As a therapist myself, I understand that this is confidential and controlled.

Your information is stored on a secure server and your local device e.g. your phone. With the security measures in place, your data is not at risk via any other users.

Yes, you can. Grounded has been designed so that it is not only easy to fill in the information required for client session logs, supervision logs and CPD logs. It is also straightforward to download this data should you need to share it with any of the professional bodies.

Yes, it can. Under the finance section, there are summaries for the financial year showing income and expenses, with the expenses broken down by category.

Yes, there is. Over time I’m keen to develop additional features like a clinical will, allowing a professional executor access to your client information should you not be capable. Or automated communication with your clients e.g. sending contractual information when a client is set up for a payment reminder if too many sessions are still unpaid. I’m extremely keen to hear from all therapists about how they would like to see Grounded develop.

Grounded works by holding your practice data/client information on a secure cloud server and your local device (probably your phone). The cloud server acts as the automatic backup and provides the information source to use Grounded in a web browser. This allows better visibility of the graphs and enables a download function.

In building the Grounded App I've marked the various fields as being PI (personal information) and this blanks out those fields to the engineering view. Only you have access to your device and your client's data.

The database is securely protected. I'm a counsellor and understand the importance of confidentiality so, as well as technical security on the electronic storage, I’ve ensured that I’m also registered as a data controller and processor with the ICO.

Yes, you can. Within the web browser view of Grounded, you can find several download buttons allowing you to save all of your information locally. You can also delete all of your information manually or request me to.

No. We do not share the client data with any third parties unless required by law or to fulfil the terms of the contract between the client and the counsellor.
